I created a last minute Valentine's Day decoration. Originally I was going to create a heart pillow, but I changed my mind and went with a garland instead. The only garland we have ever had was an evergreen garland for Christmas. It made me realize that I should make one for every holiday! And of course I went with felt, because felt is amazing!
I ended up cutting out 20 hearts in 4 colors (3 shades of pink and 1 red). I used a die cut heart and cut around it. I only used 4 of each of these colors for this garland (2 for each heart). So I will have plenty for another project. I'm thinking a yarn wrapped wreath with decorating it, or a love bug themed felt board. Either way, it will be passed Valentine's Day when it is made.

I started by measuring a length of white yarn (about 4 feet). The hearts are 4-5 inches apart and there is enough yarn left on the end to tie a bow. Using pins I secured the felt heart to the yarn. Then I used white embroidery thread to stitch an arrow onto the felt. I kept the arrow simple and some have different designs. The arrows were stitched through the yarn on the back of the heart. At this point I could have been done, but I decided to sew a second heart to the back to cover the yarn and stitching and to make the hearts more durable.
I sewed a blanket stitch around the hearts.
Aren't they cute? :)
Bean said they looked like a smile that needed eyes. Perhaps I'll make two large hearts for eyes to go with it.
I like the gradual change of colors.
What decorations have you made for Valentine's Day?
